She completed her MBBS in January 1982 from Govt.
TD Medical College, Alappuzha (Kerala University) and went on to earn her MD in
Obstetrics and Gynaecology in May 1991 from Govt. Medical College, Kozhikode (Calicut
University). Additionally, she obtained the DGO (Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology) in
September 1989 from Govt. Medical College, Kozhikode.
She joined KMCT Medical College Hospital on 04/05/2015.
Dr. Chellamma is registered with the Travancore Cochin Medical Council under registration
number 12689.
Dr. Chellamma has authored several research papers in notable medical journals, including
the following, to name a few:
1. Double burden of malnutrition in singleton pregnancies at a tertiary care center.
2. Maternal pre-pregnancy underweight and pregnancy outcomes in singleton pregnancies.
3. Clinical profile and morbidity in surgical site infection following cesarean section.
4. Prevalence and predictors of premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
5. Clinical analysis of abnormal uterine bleeding using PALM-COEIN classification.
6. Association between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and maternal TSH levels.
She has also secured notable achievements during her service in the field of obstetrics and
gynaecology, which include a Fellowship from the Indian College of Obstetricians and
Gynaecologists (ICOG) in 2013, and her role as Chairperson of the IMS Endocrinology
Committee in 2022.
She has been recognized with the IMA Best Doctor Award for her outstanding contributions
to the field of medicine.
Dr. Chellamma holds memberships in prestigious professional organizations such as the
Indian Medical Association (IMA), Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of
India (FOGSI), and the Indian Menopause Society (IMS). She has been an active participant
in numerous national and international conferences, continuously expanding her knowledge
and insights in her area of specialization while fostering collaboration.

Her extensive medical training includes residencies at prominent institutions such as Govt.
TD Medical College, Alappuzha, Govt. Medical College, Thrissur, and Govt. Medical
College, Kozhikode. She served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Govt.
Medical College, Kozhikode, before becoming a Professor at Govt. Medical College,
Kozhikode, and Govt. TD Medical College, Alappuzha. Currently, Dr. Chellamma is the
Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at KMCT Medical
College Hospital, where she continues to lead and inspire the next generation of medical
professionals.
