KMCT Medical college hospital doctors, nurses and other hospital staff organized a variety of programmes to mark World Tuberculosis Day on Saturday[ March 24]. The programmes were conducted to make awareness in the minds of people about the ill-effects of TB, precautions and measures to be taken.
The tuberculosis day celebration was inaugurated by Dr CK Vasu [Superintendent – KMCT MEDICAL college hospital]. While addressing function, Dr CK Vasu, said that TB was an infectious illness, which could be cured, if detected in advance. People should not spit at public places and wrap their mouth while coughing to avert spread of TB. Earlier, Dr. Mohammed Wahid KM [Senior Resident – Pulmonology Dept], welcomed the gathering. Dr Zephyr [Pulmonology Dept] proposed vote of thanks.
In a bid to increase consciousness of the ill-effects of TB, awareness classes were conducted. The classes were led by Dr Ubaid Nedumuli [Asst professor- Community medicine, KMCT Medical College] and Dr Binuraj C [Associate professor- Pulmonology dept.]
A free medical camp for public and quiz competition for students & public were also held. Instruction books consisting information on “TB symptoms and defensive steps” were given to people who assembled.
